The engine started as a 1992 H23A, the one that came with the car. As I modified over time, the list of quality upgraded parts grew and grew. Here are some of the main modifications. AEM Intake, Modified DC Header (larger collector) MonsterFlow Air filter, Stillen fuel pressure regulator, Unorthodox underdrive pulley, Larger throttle body, Port matched intake manifold, 2.5" Custom cat-back exhaust with Magnaflow muffler, Custom test pipe, Neuspeed short shift adapter, MSD SCI Ignition system and many more.
I drove and revved the heck outta the engine, it was not too long till the engine failed. In fact I had already bought a nice clean 1993 JDM H22A. The engine came with the trans and ecu. This motor was rated at 200hp.
Before installing the motor, it was fully cleaned, and mildly modifed for better performance. This is in addition to the already extensive list of mods the car had already recieved. The following list of items were installed before the motor went into the car. 1.Quaife Differential 2.Honda Prelude Type S camshafts 3.Honda water pump, timing belt 4.Many different seals, fittings, etc. 5. ApexI VAFC 6. ACT Stage 3 clutch
Extensive tuning has been done to achieve the 211 hp. The #'s were accomplished on a DynoJet some years ago, and the car has been in the current state of tune since then, and has given zero reliability issues. The car averages 18mpg/city and 22mpg/hwy and is very quick and fast. It has been tested in the quarter mile, and averages in the low 14 second range, with a personal best of 13.94@98mph. This is a very capable car on the street also. The motor currently has 85,000 miles and has solid compression across all 4 cylinders.
I purchased this 1992 Honda Prelude Si 4WS in November of 1997. This vehicle has served me well over the last 10 years as a daily driver and show vehicle. For the last two years, though I start and drive it from time to time, the car has just been sitting, due to starting and raising a family. I initially bought the vehicle to drive daily and to modify. I hoped to create the Prelude that Honda should have made, or so I thought in my head. I had a few schemes layed out, and went to work. The vehicle has since gone through many changes and looks, but above all I've tried to keep a mature, subtle look to the project. After all these years, numerous awards and trophys, and many miles traveled, the car is still very reliable, clean, and comfortable as it was the day I bought it. I truly believe the car has reached the exact goal that I set out to accomplish. This the the Honda Prelude Si 4WS (with VTEC) that should have come from the factory in 1992!
The interior of this vehicle is tastefully modified, with the best part being the pair of genuine Recaro SRD Limited Edition (black with red stitching) Also, a genuine carbon fiber overlay dash kit, select items painted charcoal, brand new Honda OEM Floor mats, Genuine Spoons Sports Shifter knob, round out the interior mods.
The stereo system was a no-compromise effort. Its consists of a top-of-the-line Alpine CD Player, Xtant 6.5" Coaxial Speakers, JL Audio 10W1 Subwoofer and a Kenwood Excelon Amplifier. The car also has XM Satellite radio, in which my subscription has run out. The sound of all these components together is incredible, especially in the small cabin of the Prelude.
The vehicle's suspension is nicely modified also. Its consists of the following items. Eibach Sportline Springs, KYB AGX Adjustable shock absorbers, Genuine Spoon Sports Upper Strut tower brace, EM Racing Adjustable C-Pillar Reinforcement Bar, Racing Tanabe Chassis stiffening bar. This setup allows the car to handle as if on rails, yet gives a soft and comfortable ride.
Also, a word on the brakes. They consist of Powerslot Rotors, Hawk Street Pads, Neuspeed Coated Stainless braid brakelines, and ATE SuperBlue Racing Fluid. Its a great package.
I never had a chance to really describe the wheel/tire combo. They are SUPER RARE JDM ONLY BBR Racing Comp 6 Wheels. I found these wheels online, brand new in box, sitting in a warehouse in Japan. These are true 3 piece wheels with a polished /forged outer lip, silver painted cast center section. BBR was made by Enkei to BBR's exacting specs. You can truly see the quality of these brand new wheels. And to top it all off, they are held in place by unique and RARE J's Racing FORGED lug nuts. Also, the tires are filled with Nitrogen.
There is a small list of items that are currently not functioning to my standards, and will be addressed before I sell the car to the new owner!
