Up for sale is my second WRX, a 2002 model with ~95,000 miles. I'm selling because I can't afford the monthly payments at this point.
The Bad:
Transmission is making a whirring noise - I can't quite put my finger on what it is, but I had new output shaft bearings pressed in and multiple fluid changes (using Extra-S), but the noise still remains. The transmission shifts fine every time, doesn't grind into any gear, but it just whines when you drive.
Body wise, there are a few small dents on the passenger rear door and some scratches on the roof, which I assume happened when the previous owner installed the bike rack.
The Good:
It's an unmolested wagon with the Subaru/Yakima bike rack, armrest extension, Subaru factory short shifter, and a surprisingly clean interior. As you may notice in the photos, the dealer plastic floor mats are still in the car and I do have the WRX floor mats as well.
Previous owner was a non-smoking (as am I) 50-something family man who had owned the car since new.
Given the fact that the car is in overall good shape, aside from the whiny gear box and some blemishes in the paint, I think that $9500 is a fair place to start the sale at.
If the buyer is concerned with the gearbox, I would be willing to install a gearbox for free, but I would have to charge for another gear box. For piece of mind, I have driven this car to Nashville and back with no troubles and I frequently commute between Naperville, IL and West Lafayette, IN and have not had any issues at all with the car.
