(2004 Jetta GLS 1.8t 5 speed AWP)
37,000 miles. Everything works perfect. almost $50k invested into this car in total.
I
bought it new with 10 miles on it from the dealership. From that day on it was my baby. Never saw snow, rarely saw
rain. Was always garaged. It was under
a cover 60% of the year. Driven for an average of 6500 miles a year.
Every $ I put into it was for products that were top of the line.
Now with just over 36k on cluster and over 20k in mods.. I think im going to pass her on to someone else.
Ill list some answers to questions I have been asked about the car:
My
last dyno was at 290whp and 280wtq. But I only spun the car to
6200rpms. At 16psi. One of the managers and tuning specialists at
Unitronic told me that im babying the car and I should spin it to
7200rpms. He said that run would have put down around 310whp. I just
never pushed it that hard.
The ride is fairly rough because the car is
so low and there isn’t much rubber to work with. In order to be that
low.. The dampening has to be set fairly stiff so you don’t get
rubbing. But they are coilovers.. So the whole suspension can be
adjusted at a shop for like an hours worth of work. All 4 tires have
500 miles on them and they ran me about $220 a piece. I have receipts.
The Gforce by BFgoodrich are the best tires on the market.
The thing about
this car that sets it apart from others.. 90% or cars modded to this
magnitude, have check engine lights on them. My car is tuned to
perfection. No check engine light. I passed Ohio echeck (emissions)
without a catalytic converter. The software was written custom to the
car.
The internals have not been touched. They are efficient up
to 310 wheel torque. The car is running about 285wtq. So it would be up
to you to take it to the next level. with a rod kit installed, all you
have to do it turn the boost up and tune it a little and you can pull
100 more horse out of that turbo.
I have two things on the car
that increase engine life.. One being the turbo I selected. GT2871r has
a larger compressor housing. I think it was .80 or .84 or something.
But anyways... it moves the peak power up the rpm range. The safest
place to make torque is at the highest point in the rpms. Second.. I
have water / methane injection. It reduces the chance of detonation and
basically cleans the engine as it works.
There is only one thing
that is an issue. The horn doesn’t work. It is something in the
steering wheel. just a wire. A VW perf shop would be able to fix in an
hour. The horn works with the security alarm but just not when you push
the horn. The only thing has given me issues.. are coil packs and
axles. one thing that will need to be done within a year or two is the
axles. too much torque for them. you have to watch your wheel spin from
a dead stop. a company called Raxles makes strong ones with a lifetime
warranty. new they are 750 for a set. you can find them used for 500.
but that is all I can think of that needs to be done soon. coil packs
are a common issue on all 1.8t's. they aren’t expensive. the maf sensor
is another thing that goes frequently. I replaced it a month ago.
Title is clean. I am the original owner. comes
with 2 keys. one of them is keyless entry. I have 100's of dollars of
stock parts that I will just give you with the car. including the whole
stock suspension if you want it.
The car is known nationwide. I will include a link to a forum website that has 400,000 members. Here you will find more info and pictures of the car and feedback from some very reputable people.
